What is Tribe of Levi?
Tribe of Levi is a call. It is a call to follow Jesus wholeheartedly. Tribe of Levi is a generation that has heard that call, and has responded by forsaking all else to follow Jesus, to live abandoned lives for the King of Kings. Tribe of Levi is a movement; a grass-roots revolution propelled by a volunteer army of consecrated, extravagant worshipers. Can you hear the call? Come join the movement. Be a Levite.
Who is Tribe of Levi?
Tribe of Levi is you. It is me. It’s us. It’s anyone who has heard the invitation to abandon everything to follow Jesus. Tribe of Levi leaders and founders Scott and SungHee Brenner have heard that invitation, and invite you to join them in the pursuit.
Twelve years ago, Scott Brenner received a prophetic word. The word, simply put, was: “You are a Levite, and your ministry will be the ministry of a Levite.” This simple yet powerful message of consecrated worship is directed to anyone with ears to hear its invitation: “Be a consecrated worshiper. Be a Levite.”
Since 1995, when Scott Brenner first came to minister in Seoul, until now, the ministry of Scott Brenner has served with a vision toward experiencing national revival in Korea. The year of 2005 was an important transitional year for Scott Brenner Ministries. The Holy Spirit impressed upon Scott and SungHee to devote themselves more fully to seeking God, and to consecrate themselves afresh as His worshipers. In 2006, the vision for the Tribe of Levi began to emerge more clearly, and in the fall of 2006, Tribe of Levi was officially launched as the umbrella ministry of Scott Brenner Ministries internationally.
Scott and SungHee recognize that no single man or woman alone can or should carry the burden for revival by themselves. Revival begins with an individual, yet its fullest expression is expressed in the context of consecrated community. It is for this reason that Scott and SungHee invite you to join with them in the pursuit of intimacy with Jesus Christ and of spiritual awakening among the nations of the earth.
When and where does the Tribe of Levi gather?
The Tribe gathers on Monday evenings at Oreun Church in Seoul, beginning in January of 2007. Oreun Church is located directly across from the Olympic Park Complex. Specific dates, directions and details will be made available next month on this website. The website address for Tribe of Levi is www.tribeoflevi.org. Currently the Tribe of Levi website address is linked to the Scott Brenner Ministries website. We will soon have a Korean language site available, but for now, you can check the ministry schedule page for Tribe of Levi meeting dates and upcoming events.
AWAKE! Conferences
In addition to its weekly worship gathering, Tribe of Levi will also gather for special assemblies to pray, fast, and seek God’s face. The year 2007 is a special year for Korea, as it is the 100th anniversary of the Korean revival in Pyungyang in 1907. The Tribe of Levi is hosting its first prayer and worship conference at Oreun Church January 1-3, 2007, entitled AWAKE! It is subtitled, “Three days of fasting, prayer, extravagant worship and consecration to God.“ We want to begin the new year by crying out to God for revival with all our hearts. This conference is for people of all ages: for the young and also for the young at heart. Come prepared to cry out, to seek God’s face, to weep, fast, worship and pray. Together let’s inaugurate the Korean revival Centennial by consecrating ourselves and the new year afresh to God.
Tribe of Levi School of Worship
Tribe of Levi will host its first annual School of Worship beginning in May of 2007. The School will meet once per week for nine consecutive weeks, concluding in July 2007. The School of Worship will meet at Oryun Church in Seoul. Dates and registration information will be announced later on the Tribe of Levi website, at www.tribeoflevi.org, and also at www.godpeople.com. The Vision of Tribe of Levi
It has been said that if you can make your own vision happen by yourself, then your vision is probably too small. On the other hand, if only God can make that vision a reality, then it is more likely a vision God has truly given, and which He alone can and will therefore fulfill. We believe that we are here for a purpose: to glorify God. When we are weak, then He is strong. God’s strength is perfected in our weakness. Our vision is to glorify God in every facet of everything we do. Our vision is that every thought, desire, motive, word and deed give God continual praise and glory.
Called as Influencers
The Kingdom of God is an ever-increasing Kingdom. How does it increase? By the “zeal of God” (Isaiah 9:7). In other words, God’s Kingdom increases through the working of God’s fervent passion in you and me. When we receive God’s Holy Spirit, we are set on fire with passion for His vision. “Your Kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” Not our wills, but His.
When we fully come under the influence of God and His Kingdom, we become positioned as potential influencers of the world around us. Everyone is being influenced by something or someone. Who and what is influencing you? The Tribe of Levi is a call to be influenced by God’s passion, character and values to such an extent that we cannot help but influence the world around us. We’re called to change our world. We’re called to surrender everything for Christ.
Our vision is to raise up a generation of consecrated worshipers, an army of volunteers who will first see Jesus, and secondly see ourselves as missionaries called to go into all the world and proclaim His Kingdom with our lives and our words. The Tribe of Levi is a message. We are to be the message, to become the message. That’s why we’re committed to spending extended amounts of time being saturated and consumed by the Presence of God in worship. The more we give ourselves over to loving the God of love, the more we are changed and become like Him. We become extravagant lovers who can love a world that has turned its back on Him. We can love the unlovely and the unloved through His love.
The Tribe of Levi is a Kingdom of priests; a royal priesthood, a holy nation. We affirm the priesthood of all believers. This is not only essential reformation teaching, it is at the very heart of Tribe of Levi. Every believer in Jesus Christ is called to be a priest unto God, daily offering ourselves to Him as a living sacrifice. Whether you are called vocationally as a lawyer, musician, politician, artist, educator, factory worker, homemaker, business worker, or anything else, we are all called in Jesus Christ as disciples destined to make a difference. We are called to change our world, but first we must be changed through a radical encounter with God’s extravagant, life-transforming love. We must be gripped by a vision of His Kingdom, not ours. We must lay our vocations, our dreams, hopes, and desires on the altar of consecration, so that the fire of God’s holiness can purify those dreams and desires and make them fit for the Master’s use.
Join us as we seek God’s face together.
